An Update:
Thanks for all your support. Our request to continue for another year was INITIALLY under the parents management was approved, but pending we contribute to pay the running costs of the club amounting to about 30%. This includes the gardening, cleaning, security, electricity, sand,...etc. besides the salaries, of course, which should be covered from the tuition fees. The board representatives said that they can be flexible about the running costs. We, in return, accepted to increase the tuition fees by more than 35%. This means that we need to make a big effort to attract parents with children who are willing to enjoy the KG and the space for one year ONLY. We, therefore, encourage you to help us by spreading the word to your friends who have children. The more children, the higher the chances this plan works out. We are currently five and we need, at least, seven more to make it possible!

Under my presidency the kindergarten was established at the Swiss Club Kairo. The reason was that the children of the young married couples Swiss/Egyptian neither spoke German nor Arabic correctly. They had no changes to be taken by the German School.
My wife a - kindergarten teacher- had the idea of building a kindergarten at the Swiss Club.We found 2 teachers, one of it was Barbara.
My wife gave them a few introduction lectures. The young parents were building 2 rooms and a toilet at the Club House at no cost. The kindergarten was financed and run by the kindergarten comity attached to the Swiss Club. The locality was free for them.
We are pity to learn the of the closure of the kindergarten - one of the rare places of Swiss culture in a foreign country.

This would be a huge loss in a beautiful country that is crying for stability and social, emotional, economic and political reconstruction .....healthy reconstruction starts with the healthy education of your children. I deeply believe that this has been the mission and role of the Swiss Club Kindergarten. Please stay open and expand to give more of this wonderful early life experience to more children.

children are so fragile and attached to a place especially those in pre school stage , that a radical change like this might harm their trust and feeling of belonging ... This action should be gradual

Please please please don't shut down the wonderful kindergarten. It is a great service to the community and the kids and the parents love it. Keep up the good work

How on earth to inform the parents before 1 month of the closure normally we will be informed by a whole term ahead.

As former president of the Swiss Club, I am deeply disappointed about the unacceptable procedures taken by the committee of the Swiss Club. The closure of the Kindergarten should have been announced in time and in written. There should have been a meeting last year for the parents, for the staff of the Kindergarten and the committee to avoid any problems for the children. Madame Barbara Damm Abou-Alam worked for 30 years successfully for the excellent reputation of this Swiss institution. The treatment, she and her Egyptian colleagues received by not informing them in written, does not reflect the deep friendship between Swiss and Egyptian people.
