Northeast Prep is an alternative school located at Mendenhall and Macon. The students have broken into our sheds and cars. They have been hanging out on sidewalks and carports on homeowners property. They are smoking pot, stealing and cursing the owners when asked to leave. There has even been gunfire. They have put fear into our lives for to many years.
The events that took place on April 19, 2018 are the last straw. This was suppose to be a peaceful walkout in protest of violence in schools. They were throwing rocks at houses in their path of destruction. There were 50-70 students running in our neighborhood, cussing and throwing gang signs. Police were called and arrests made. The school has NO control unless inside building. Once out it’s MPD and they can’t do it all. They have declined our home values and terrorized our neighborhood. We have had enough.
We the undersigned neighbors want Northeast Prep Academy closed or total police protection.

We had them terrorizing customers in front of our business on Mendenhall right before Summer. Don’t bus your bad kids from all over into our neighborhood; we have enough dealing with some of the people who live here and their kids.
This, hard to call it a school, is a sad bandage to a terrible situation, no help to the kids that go there, might as well just give them some dope & a gun, but then again they already have those. My wife is afraid to go for walks as she used to. Please do our neighborhood and these kids a favor by closing this school.
The students and the school they go to N.E. Preparatory are doing damage to our community. Evidence is plentiful, and the school refuses to take any measure to stop it.
Students from this so called school caused me to almost get hit head on because they would hold hands and block street then keep walking out in front of traffic across Stratford.
Personally, I would like to see a school for people with disabilities and special needs here. The building would continue to be used as a School and our neighborhood would benefit from this. I truly believe our neighbors would be more open to volunteering at this type of school. Currently, neighbors are harassed, threatened, and must also endure students smoking pot and having dice games in yards. Please consider our plight and our suggestions. The abuse has gone on for far too long. We tried talking with the Principal of the school, the MPD, and City Officials to no avail. Thank you for taking the time to hear us.
the kids have no respect for the property or people who live/work in this neighborhood. unruly people with no consequences, will only become more unruly.

It is evident that the board of education is just bidding time to get these kids out of our system. By law they have to stay in school, whether they're learning or not! The parents certainly don't want them to be home! Sad to say the KIDS are the ones caught in the middle! They do not belong in our neighborhood to roam and destroy!!!
