The authorities have confirmed that the clearway plans are officially withdrawn. This outcome shows how much can happen when a community insists on being properly considered before changes are made to our streets. We should remain attentive to the area to ensure this remains a permanent decision for our schools.

Final supporters
After a brief consultation with the School, and a letter from the Principle Mr Warren Loy objecting to the proposed clearway dated the 20th of September 2018, parents were given notice via the 2018 School newsletter dated the 4th of December that the NSW RMS would not be implementing the Clearway after all. The NSW RMS have clearly gone back on their word.
The NSW RMS have told the Fairfield Champion that close to 5000 people living around Cabramatta Rd were consulted as well as community members at Cabramatta Plaza and that only 50 cars and 'some' parents would be affected.
The problem is Cabramatta Rd stretches from the Hume Highway at Lansvale all the way to Elizabeth Drive in Bonnyrigg with different communities. There was no community consultation for the members of OLMC, Bonnyrigg, Mount Pritchard and surrounding suburbs. And with 4 schools, OLMC C.S., Bonnyrigg H.S., St John's P.S. and Mount Pritchard P.S. within a 5 km radius, this is a recipe for disaster.
The Clearway also does not take into account the frequency of the 50 car spaces used in a 30 minute drop off and pick up time frame. If 3 to 4 cars park in the same car space in the 30 minutes, this equates to approximately 200 cars or parents using Cabramatta Rd that now have to congest Humphries Rd. This means further congestion on Cabramatta Rd, Edensor Rd and Meadows Rd.
Please show your support by signing the petition that we as a community strongly object to the implementation of the Clearway, we reject the idea that we were consulted and we want our parking and our Kiss and Drop off driveway reinstated back to normal. We want the NSW RMS to assume responsibility of this chaos and to become contactable instead of sending young RMS officials in high viz vests who do not care for the community.

Please also send photo and video footage of any congestion on Cabramatta Rd, Humphries Rd, Edensor Rd and Meadows Rd to your Govt. representative so they can understand the impact the Clearway has had to our local community.

For a parent with a disability, it is near impossible trying to drop off my child to school without the drop off. I would like to see some immediate changes made. Obviously whoever was behind the decisions doesn't have primary aged children going to a nearby school.
The clearway on Cabramatta Rd has caused more traffic issues then resolving any issues. It has now made parents try and find parking on the already conjested Humphries rd and the limited off streets that are available. This can be more dangerous to the young children that are walking along Humphries rd due to the extra traffic going through. I hope the RMS would consider allowing parents and carers to be able to park on Cabramatta rd during school drop off and pick up.
Put safe of the young primary school children first and invest in proper traffic controls. Taking away the kiss and drop off point is a poor attempt at directing traffic congestion elsewhere at the cost of child safety.
This is a disaster, How can the council or the RMS not consider the fact that parents cannot pick up kids from school and don’t realise there’s no where to park. It is chaotic as it is and have Cabramatta Road as a clearway it is totally a recipe Major accidents
The clear way has meant that I can no longer make it to after school activities on time twice a week. It is causing a great deal of anxiety to me and from me to my children. Yelling and dragging them the 18 minute walk in the best possible direction to be able to get out on time. I’m now parking in Hemphill ave!
I strongly object to the new clearways on Cabramatta road as they are causing traffic chaos in surrounding streets and even on Cabramatta road prior to Humphreys road intersection. This is due to the congestion on Humphries road caused by the clearways so the clearways have done nothing to alleviate traffic but instead added to it. I request the clearways be reconsidered and removed to help with the better flow of traffic. It has become a nightmare. I also believe the school should consider having a teacher on duty at the kiss n drop zones to monitor parents and ensure it is a quick kiss and drop with parents not getting out of the car to help their children which adds to the traffic problem. If their children are not ready to do kiss n drop , they should park their car in the surrounding streets and walk them in. I did this for 3 years before my kids were ready to do kiss n drop. It is really frustrating for us parents who would like to get their children to school and be at work on time.

However, surely this can be evaluated as it is actually causing more traffic build up than before. The amount of cars trying to turn right off of Cabramatta Rd onto Humphries Rd (in both directions) in the mornings has caused traffic to build up so that only a few cars at a time can actually drive through the intersection. The opposite problem occurs in the afternoon with traffic on Humphries Rd being built up. In the mornings, the kiss and drop zone on Cabramatta Rd is virtually unusable as only a few cars can go in at a time. Parents are then asked to go to the one on Humphries Rd. That congests up the traffic on Humphries Rd. It's even worse as it is also a bus zone. So when there is an excursion, the buses park there to pick up the students, therefore there is NO kiss and drop area. Then there is the issue of parking. The school has over 800 students. Even if only a quarter of parents drop off and pick up their children, that's 200 cars that need to park along Humphries Rd and (limited) surrounding streets. It is very unsafe for students at the moment to cross the streets with the sheer amount if cars congested along Humphries Rd. When there is a funeral at the church, this makes it virtually impossible to find somewhere to park. For the sake of the students' safety, I strongly urge RMS to reevaluate their decision in making Cabramatta Rd a clear way, as well as perhaps changing the traffic lights at the intersection so that the traffic flows better.

The new clear ways on Cabramatta road adjacent to our lady mount Carmel school really affects us parents especially on really hot days and on rainy days as we now have to park up to 5 minutes plus away from the school witch is affecting our health and very uncomfortable circumstances especially for us elderly and disabled parents. Their isn’t enough parking in adjacent streets you really made things uncomfortable hard and are hearting our health. I would like to see if you would walk in bad weather how you would feel you would be very upset as we are .
