The state of the Thames is already getting worse and the government isn't doing enough so this would be a great way of making the Thames cleaner.

The Thames is the lifeblood of our city, an incredible landmark without which London could not thrive. It's a cultural and historical icon, not to mention that it's one of the main sources of clean water for those who live in its vicinity. It's pretty much common sense for the government to take action towards decreasing the pollution in the Thames, because it's essential for our wellbeing (and makes tourist income, isn't that great? More money? That's all that matters to them, so why not?) They really need to step up their priorities from having wives hiring £53000-per-year fashion advisors to taking care of the actual environment. Some people tend to forget we actually live on this planet and should be taking measures to improve it rather than having pointless wars and voting for the least-corrupt politician. But that's none of my business :)))
