Clean Up Walerga Marketplace (Winco/Osh Shopping Center)
We, the patrons of Walerga Marketplace and citizens of Antelope, CA believe the marketplace owner's inaction in the face of numerous complaints about dangerous crimes and sanitation problems taking place on their property shows irresponsibility to their tenants, customers of their tenants and our community. As a community we cannot allow these safety issues to go unaddressed and simply hope that similar or even worse incidents will not occur while reasonable safety measures fail to be implemented. We want our local Walerga Plaza to be the safest place to shop in Antelope. We are requesting that the owner make the plans following improvements to its security measures;
A. Bright lights installed throughout the parking lot.
B. At least one employed off duty SCSD officer patrolling the premises at all times on weekdays and two employed off duty SCSD officers patrolling the premises Friday through Sunday - 24/7 coverage.
C. Improved camera system with a no exception 24/7 monitoring policy, a 30 day minimum data retention, and complete surface area and parking lot coverage.
D. An employed parking lot litter maintenance scheduled a minimum of 2 days a week.
We know that we are asking you to do things that we are sure are already on your list and are encouraging you towards an objective that you have almost certainly already made your own. We would just not feel comfortable remaining silent on this important issue while our friends and neighbors are in harm's way. UPDATE: The boycott has been changed to reflect voices of our community. Boycotting local owned businesses will not help our community. Not only have a few different locally owned businesses reached out to the community regarding this boycott but they have taken steps in the right direction to make this Plaza a safe and clean place to shop. Changes to this petition are open for discussion and your voice in the community can be heard. If this petition doesn't reach the 1000 signatures suggested to send to the Marketplace owner's, then at least it has gotten the word out and the ball rolling towards a safer and cleaner shopping experience and community. Thank you.
