Recently, chemicals such as Formalin and Nonyphenol Etholates have been found in popular clothing brands such as Adidas and Abercrombie and Fitch.  According to the GreenPeace Organization, these hormone-disrupting, skin irritating, and eye-infecting chemicals are sprayed on clothes to merely provide a nice finish so that the article of clothing may be aesthetically appealing in a store.

These companies are also responsible for the discharge of the hazardous chemicals in waterways not only in China, but around the world as part of their manufacturing processes.  In addition, what happens when clothes with these harmful chemicals are washed?  They, once again, wind up in waterways of course!  The effects of these chemicals on the human body and on the environment could only be described as unsettling and that  immediate action must be taken to prevent the use of these harmful chemicals in factories around the world.  As the toxic water campaigner of GreenPeace in East Asia, Yifang Li says, "People have a right to know about the chemicals that are present in the very fabric of their clothing and the harmful effects these chemicals have when released into the environment."

Most companies, like Nike, and Puma have already committed to cleaning up their supply chains, however, the concern still remains on Abercrombie and Fitch, probably one of the most iconic brands in today's shopping.  By signing this petition, you will be contributing in an effort to stop the unfair production of chemicals in the clothing that you and I wear everyday.  Please sign. :)
