I was one of the people during the pandemic that received a notice and had 10 days to remove my chickens from the property. It was my first time raising chicks. My daughter assisted in this adventure. Each bird had a name and was cared and loved. The pandemic was very stressful. We took on creating a garden, repurposing a playground and instead of sending it to a land fill for the chickens. They were therapeutic pets for us. Our neighbors took time to come sit and enjoy the peace brought by the birds. I regularly posted live videos, used the birds in my art work, as a teacher during the pandemic. I was able to share this adventure virtually with my students. I cannot tell you how devastatingly crushed I was and how the tears flowed when our flock that was raised together had to be dismantled and sold. We found our first 3 eggs right before the first group of chickens left, 3 eggs!! That was the beginning of the end. The entire original purpose was to provide (eggs) food, for not only my family, but those within our community. These birds are very smart and affectionate. They recognize faces and had I known more would have sought therapy licensure for them. Our residential community members should be permitted to feed their family, find therapeutic comfort, and assist in the many other facets of positive development chickens/foul have to offer.

Absolutely we should keep fowl for every sake listed in this petition. I don’t know why anyone would be against a grey thing

I had bought chickens at the beginning of the pandemic when grocery stores were bone dry. This was my way of feeding my family. Borough of Clayton’s zoning officer payed me a visit stating I had ten days to rid of my hens even though the boroughs website said I could have them as long as the structure was 50ft away from the edge of my property. Which it was. Furthermore, the borough of Clayton does not spray for ticks. My hens were great tick control. I have been hospitalized with lymes disease since they’ve been gone. Please change this. Chickens do more good then harm!

Please allow my friends to continue having their chickens. I was so very grateful to receive eggs for my family.

People should be allowed to keep backyard chickens for pets and eggs. Chicken hobbyists in the community are beneficial and chickens do not need acreage to thrive and be healthy. Chicken coops are designed for the hobbyist and they are pleasing to the eye.

I am not a chicken keeper but am an advocate for backyard bounty. I believe chickens are an amazing asset to any community and not allowing them 'clucks'.
