Hi all,
I played on and maintained for years Har-Thru and real red clay courts. I could play or teach far longer than on hard courts. I acknowledge that all the advantages found in the article are true to me.
Newer technology make these courts a breeze to maintain compare to past practice and yes our staff will have to be trained to operate them at their best ( daily ) rolling to compact the surface ) and not to forget there is also an education for the members as well ex.
1) Brushing and cleaning the lines after play.
2) Not to play on them when very wet or frozen.
3) Cleaning their equipment after play
3) Learning to slide
4) Learning to accelerate ( special shoes are recommended )
5) Changing their strings more often.
Other positive aspects that were not covered in the petition:
1) the " Clay" courts are not as much affected by the movement of the surface underneath, the surface is somewhat more elastic. and plastic.
2) Cheaters, under pressure visually impaired players and vision of aging players will finally given a rest as a mark is left after impact.
Two negative aspects that are not covered in the article is once covered by the bubble the ambient air gets very humid and of course dirtier ( Qc St- Eustache club: they had clouds formation and rain came down from them). A great ventilation hopefully could counter in some degree this issue.
2) The second problem is freezing temperature make these courts very fragile. The early winter mornings freezing temperature could be an issue.
I strongly support Har-Thru courts that could extend my tennis passion for many more years to come.

While playing on a hot day my feet felt like they were stuck and I went straight down and fractured my wrist. I am not the only one who has injured themselves on these courts and had the same feeling prior. We do need to have more information on cost etc. but there seems to be many benefits with clay courts. I am not a fan of PlexiCushion.

(Although it is referred to as clay, Har-Tru is actually composed of crushed stone.)
