CHS Classes in the 2020-2021 school year should be pass/fail
As students of Caldwell High School, there have been many concerns about grades and passing classes this year. With this, many students are struggling to get passing grades, counselors are overwhelmed, and switching back and forth between hybrid and online is a challenge all on it’s own. Students at CHS would like to express their concerns in this petition, stating that the grading system for the rest of this year should be a pass or fail system. As a school district, the students at CHS believe that you have the best interests of the students and parents. But many of the students here at Caldwell High School feel as if they do not have a say in anything this school year. We have started this petition in the interest in not only the students, but the teachers as well. Since grading has become such a hassle for a lot of teachers whom most of which struggle with technology, this system of pass/fail could take a lot of stress off of teachers by allowing them to grade assignments faster and for students to be able to get grades in. We would like to point out that at Boise State University has given this option to take any current course on a pass/fail basis for the 2020 year, giving their students an opportunity to keep the letter grading system or to have a pass/fail basis. With this option of being able to have classes be pass/fail, students would be able to feel less stressed and be able to put out better work.
