I was on Klonopin a benzodiazepine and it has ruined my life I have been unable to work much the past two years, I have had all of the symptoms of withdrawal, all of the tremors, the shaking, the sweats, the chills, the headaches, the body aches and a whole lot more, I was even given Ativan and Valium to try ot come off of Klonopin, and finally given celexa and none of them helped at all

Sexual dysfunction , derealization , depersonalisation from citalopram I noticed immediate dysfunction within the first week and discontinued 3 weeks later because I couldn't even feel urination, 6 years on some mild improvement but still the dysfunction persists , derealization and depersonalisation are also a persistent side effect as though my level of conciousness has a mental blockage , the reason behind this I believe is SSRI are supposed to suppress and dull emotion they seem to have a longterm effect and effect directly upon how you engage with your enviroment , duller , you don't feel any energy from your enviroment. My pain threshold has coincidentally gone up I can barely feel a deep nip to the skin ,and my sense of taste and smell are greatly diminished . All and all SSRI have massively impacted the quality of my life that would otherwise have been enjoying this past 6 years had an SSRI not been prescribed . I've had all sorts of tests to find a cause, some had suggested it could be hormones , when I had my levels checked they were high and healthy that of an adult male , so no , and even through depression every male function was still in good health . The fact that I experienced such a dramatic change in function literally within one week of citalopram and has persisted for so many years is 100% clear cut and dry that citalopram has significantly damaged me. For that there is no justification , especially when citalopram is considered medicine , and any side effects supposedly temporary , that is an outright lie

Alprazolam/Xanax ruined my life! I am not the same person I was before I took the drug. Thank God I am off of it now, finally! My body and life will never be the same. Because of that drug I have lost nearly everything. I am a shell of the woman I once was. Who knew a drug could turn your life upside down, chew you up and spit you out? Absolutely terrible!!

I was prescribed Ativan back in mid January 2015, during a health crisis, I was put on it for pain and anxiety the pain was causing, until dr’s could get the diagnosis of my physical condition. I was reluctant, I had always been very healthy, but was encouraged by my dr, it was safe and would only be temporary. I started taking it 1ml every 4-6 hrs. It seemed to help the 1st 4 weeks then did a 180 and my life was a whirlwind!! I suffered much more ANXIETY, Sunk into a bad depression ( non functional depression) my dr also prescribed an antidepressant with the Ativan. I suffered my family suffered!!! I was on it 4mo, then told my dr I wanted off the med, the next 8mo were horrible trying to get off the Ativan, but I did! I became totally hopeless and was very suicidal among other symptoms!! It may help some people, but made my life a literal hell!! I also took myself off the antidepressant and feel normal in my mind again!! Some Dr’s are just, DRUG DEALERS protected by the FDA!!

I am an Electrical Engineer with the MBA For the past year I’ve been prescribed 90 1mg Xanax is for a month. However due to negligence my doctor has given me 20 prescriptions in 12 months, in other words 180 pills prescribed 8 of the 12 months It is cause a drastic change in my behavior, I have had bizarre and criminal acts, blackouts, confusion, anxiety, thoughts of suicide, and due to this have ran into legal issues that have caused me to lose my career. I am 100% convinced that the Xanax is have been due side effects in me that altered my core values creating a drastic shift in my thought process resulting in a reality being altered I Feel that the companies should be held accountable and pay for these dangerous side effects that have ruined my life and many others

I was prescribed Xanax for Complex PTSD. I never “abused” this monster drug but spent two years in hellish w/d and more later because neither my doctor nor I knew exactly what we were doing. This drug produces w/d symptoms worse than, and as potentially fatal as, the PTSD. None of the prescribing physicians warned or informed me how wildly addictive, dangerous or brain damaging this drug is. However, I do not believe they are not the responsible parties because I do not think they fully understood what they were prescribing. The “guidelines” they are required to follow are not valid or complete. These guidelines are provided by the manufacturers and often accepted at face value but then become legally binding upon all physicians. It is a terrible tragedy so many lives have been damaged and destroyed by benzodiazepines. I am not alone in recognizing Xanax is worse than heroin or cocaine. The benzodiazepines simply do not fit within the parameters of the definition of “medicine”. The most incidious characteristic of these drugs is they are literally being “pushed” by misinformed doctors under the false banner of “medication” and “legality”. At least when you see a guy on a street corner selling cocaine, you know what he’s up to. When someone goes to their trusted physician, it would never occur to the patient their doctor was actually prescribing something for them that was more addictive and dangerous than a street drug.

I've been prescribed alprozalam since I was 18yrs old. I'm now 50 & ANGRY that the pharmaceutical industry formulated & pushed the FDA for approval of an antianxiety medication that created a dependence to anyone who took it for longer than the prescribed length of time. 7 to 10 days is the longest a benzodiazapine should be taken. If taken longer than 7 to 10 days a physical depence occurs which makes benzo's nearly IMPOSSIBLE to quit taking. The withdrawal effects of an "anxiety medication" like benzodiazapine creates what's called benzodiazapine withdrawal. The MOST painful, intense, insane experience that's 1000 times worse than the original anxiety symptoms themselves. Besides being dependent on a "drug" (Not a "medication". Benzo's are worse than any street drug.) my short term memory is impaired. I graduated highest honors with a BA in Sociology. Then I again graduated with highest honors from U.C.I.'s A.B.A. Approved Paralegal Program. My brain, thought process, memory, and entire life has been destroyed by benzodiazapines. Pharmaceutical Companies SHOULD be held 100% responsible for allowing a medication (That they've made BILLIONS of dollars from.) they were AWARE would not only cause permanent brain damage, but leave a patient forever dependent on. I'm SO angry they turned their heads & allowed this poison to be approved by the FDA & prescribed by psychiatrists, GP's, you name it.
