I'm so glad you and some others were able to clarify some things with Courtney! Technically, we are not fighting Dr. Reid. We are advocating to the graduation committee. We want to still have the same kind of graduation they held pre- covid, which is a separate ceremony for TVCC health science center students. I completely understand not wanting to go to two different ceremonies! That week is going to busy for sure! Pinning and graduation are both optional though. The reason the pinning was even idea was because it suppose to be separate from graduation. It is intended for a intimate small(er) ceremony just for nurses. That could be something to look in to further, however, there still wouldn't be the available to add any more guests than the 4 allotted as of now. I can't speak for others but I am down for doing a "private event". There is just a lot more that goes in to play with a private event. Place and Money is a big one!

After discussing this with Courtney and others after the exam, we clarified that we hadn't signed up bc we didn't understand the need for 2 ceremonies and per Dr. Reid we thought fighting"" for a graduation meant it had to be doable for entire TVCC students (all of them). Courtney even suggested if it were to be a conflict with TVCC rules that it would then be considered a "private event" or why not doing together with Pinning? I think details are still in the air with planning but wanted to give my 2¢ lol

I think our class deserves this time to celebrate our accomplishments! It would be a great moment for us and our families after two years of hard work.

I want to celebrate with each of you this huge accomplishment. I also want my family to see me walk across the stage as they’ve endured these last two years and we crossed the finish line together.

After all we've been thru, we deserve a graduation. This has been a stressful 2 years and no one can say they have had an experience like we did.

We should have a graduation. Let’s do it at a stadium so that we can better avoid issues with COVID - just Incase y’all are trying to figure out how to make it work. People can be placed all over the stadium to social distance can occur. May not work that way but it could be an option.

In addition to football games, there are lots of photos of other TVCC sports teams recently on you school website. If those events can occur, so should graduation.

Besides having a child, this is my biggest accomplishment! We all have our own personal and special reason why this graduation is important! Let’s do this!

Public schools are attending in person classes. Restaurants and stores have been open for months. Football games are and have been happening all along. It makes absolutely no sense to me that we can't celebrate our accomplishment in person
