We object to the removal of the large pine tree behind the Clarendon Metro, as part of the Clarendon Metro Plaza Improvement Project. The tree does not deserve to be paved over with bricks. This act of destruction will upset the ecological balance of the area, and will destroy the natural habitat of our insects and birds. Furthermore, it is one of the few remaining mature trees in Clarendon's public areas, and is a natural element of Clarendon's skyline. We would like Arlington County to redesign the Clarendon Metro Plaza Improvement Project to allow for the keeping of the large pine tree.
