We are in 8th grade at Gruening Middle School participating in a class unit called Project Citizen. Project Citizen is a national civics education program that empowers a new generation of democracy. It teaches student how to change public policy. Its purpose is to give power to the people, when students learn how to do this it gives them power that they never knew they had. Anytime time in there life that they see a problem they know how they can change the public policy. Unfortunately projects like this are not required and in fact Gruening is the only middle school in the ASD participating in Project Citizen this year. We are doing a petition to get support, we would like to make it a requirement that a civics project be done at 8th grade in the ASD. If you sign this you will be helping many.
