Campaign to do this in order to demonstrate that we are a tolerant society in Belfast who will not stand for needless violence and rioting, and well is reiterating that anyone is welcome in the city, regardless of what walk of life they are from. By flying the rainbow flag, we show that the majority of us are above sovereignity issues and simply wish the best for our city. We are citizens of Belfast before any nation.
Additionally, our local government recently rejected gay marriage legalization proposals. By doing so, they undermine a perfectly normal community and deny them the rights that others have unfairly. By flying a rainbow flag over Northern Ireland's arguably most recognizable building, we can demonstrate that we campaign for their equality in marriage as well.
