Removal of City Bench on East Side of 8th Ave between 26th and 27th Streets

Please remove this bench which serves no purpose because there is not a bus stop on that block. Drunkards, vagrants and unsavory types hang out day and night, urinate and vomit and hassle people passing by. And the scaffolding over it just adds to the unsafe environment.

The people that currently use this bench to drink alcohol and do drugs presents a danger to the community.

I have seen some very bad individuals hanging around this bench please remove asap!

Please remove this bench. It is a magnet for intoxicated and dangerous individuals all day and night. I have to cross the street because my young daughter is afraid to walk past them on our way to and from school. There is no reason to have a bench there, it’s NOT a bus stop.

Ever since this bench was installed I have noticed an increase in unsavory characters that bring a detrimental element to the neighborhood with no police oversight. I feel threatened and unsafe as do my friends and neighbors.

agreed. and there should be pressure for the scaffolding to go quickly as well and not turn into a five year plan, it is the reason the bench has become a shelter.

This bench needs to go! I don’t like wheeling my toddler in his stroller by the unsavory group that congregates there. I don’t feel safe.

The primary folks who sit on this bench appear frequently intoxicated. The bench is completely trashed each and every morning and often covered in vomit, and urine. It's truly disgusting but more than that has made this block feel less safe. I'm a single woman and often walk my puppy, Willie, at night around the block-- forcing me to pass by to calls and cackles from these drunk individuals. Please remove the bench.

I am am coop shareholder and resident on 27th street. This bench has created a very unsafe environment for the area and needs to be removed immediately.

There is ZERO benefit to this bench for New Yorkers. It is a magnet for everything we do not want setting up shop around the corner from our home. Please remove ASAP. Thank you!

This bench is dangerous to the community. It promotes drunken and criminal activity. Our you children are afraid of the area because of the activity there.
