I am a recent transplant from Maryland. One of the many jobs I've had throughout the years has been as a houseparent for troubled youth. Not every kid could be "saved" but a great many we're helped by channeling their frustration and anger into physical activities, e.g. sports. When I arrived into Palm Bay last spring I was impressed with the number of participants at the GSZ. If the public parks were otherwise empty, I knew the kids in the area could be found at this park. Building confidence, self esteem, fitness, etc. the park is essential addition to the development of our youth. I cannot see how local politicians cannot see the value and importance of keeping our youth busy with fun, wholesome exercise. They should be doing all in their power to help this park stay open. If they cannot or are unwilling, then the public at large needs to mobilize and bring into office those people that can.

My nephew passed away last year but his entire teenage years were spent at Graffiti skate park. I feel that the impact that Dan hatcher and the skate park has on the lives of these kids is so great, that a place like GSZ should be a city priority in keeping open. These kids are off the streets, learning teamwork and responsibility while doing something athletic and fun!

Kids need things like this to keep them out of trouble. you can spend the money now or pay to put them up in jail.

Spent a lot of time here when I was younger. A lot of boys and girls rely on this park to go skate and hang out with friends in a safe fun environment.

GSZ was a large part of my childhood. It kept us out of trouble, gave us a safe place to be outdoors and be active and provided us with a second family. I would love to see it re-opened and continue to be a part of helping children in Brevard grow.
