Homeowners in Ocoee are being required to maintain the strip of land between the sidewalk and the street — often called the “right-of-way” — even though this property is owned by the city. While the city benefits from its use for sidewalks, utilities, and drainage, residents bear the full responsibility for mowing, landscaping, and upkeep.

This requirement is unfair and places an unnecessary burden on homeowners, both in terms of time and cost. Many residents feel it is unreasonable to maintain land that is not their property, especially when it is for the city’s benefit.

We are asking the City of Ocoee to revise the ordinance or provide alternatives so that homeowners are not solely responsible for maintaining public right-of-ways. This could include city maintenance programs, optional waivers, or other solutions that balance public needs with fairness to residents.

Sign this petition if you believe homeowners should not be obligated to maintain land owned by the city and if you support a fairer, more reasonable solution for our community.
