Final supporters
The citizens of Medicine Hat are looking for change to the photo radar program. Our concern is that the photo radar program was originally brought into Medicine Hat to specifically help in playground/school zones and high collision areas. While many of the citizens agree with that concept, as of today, it appears as though that is not to entire purpose of the photo radar program. With boxes being hidden behind trees, light poles, signs, etc, we the citizens of Medicine Hat would like to see a return to the old system. A system that made photo radar highly visible and placed in school zones, playground zones and areas that have a proven record of accidents and collisions due to speeding.

The growth of this momentum confirms that our concerns regarding transparency are shared across the city. I am currently finalizing a formal letter to the city council to request a meeting regarding the placement of these units. Information about the outcome of that outreach will be posted here as soon as a response is received.

Photo radar is not an effective deterrent. Receiving a ticket three weeks later in the mail does not make me slow down. I don't believe there is much evidence to show that photo radar is effective law enforcement.
I totally agree with this petition. I've been working in the light industrial area for 10 years and have never seen an accident on 10 Ave sw, and they have photo radar there at 7 am at least once a week.
Thank you one and all for doing this petition. The mayor promised during his election campaign he would do a review of photo radar. Well we are still waiting Mr. Mayor. The majority of citizens want this cash cow gone except in school and playground zones. Listen to the citizens of your great city!!!!
I don't have a problem with photo radar IN SCHOOL ZONES , and high collision areas, but it has become ONLY a revenue source and that is the problem. I remember during the last election that the police chief says, and I quote '' We do not hide the photo radar, it is in plain view all the time'' Looks hidden to me.
My tipping point was when I saw the van at 7 AM on a Saturday morning, tagging people on their way to work, on Gershaw Drive. It's an assault on the tax base, while conveniently leaving government workers alone (weekend)
I'm thinking there getting to greedy cus I've seen them out with there vans sitting on the side of the road after 10:00 pm. Like really Geezzuusss. N also heard that they were sitting in school zones after 9:00pm. Like what's up with that. Now there getting as crooked as the rest of society. Like really come on now. Bunch of crooks

Out in front of schools, yes. But On 4 lane roads in industrial areas is 100% revenue generation and has to go. It's a black eye on our city and our police force.
