No. Just No. I was really hopeful that Alton had learned lessons from it's past and had and was moving away from developments such as this. Guess I was wrong. Mayor Walker has lost a vote here. You can call it whatever PC name you like but this is a HUD housing project...no different than the problematic eyesore that stood on that very spot just a few years ago. Take this mess somewhere else ...like Edwardsville.

We have learned that these "reservations" where we put people off away from us become a blight on the community. We tore them down a few years ago, because we agreed they demeaned a segment of the population, who deserved the chance to live in and someday own a single family home. Now, for profit, we are attempting a return to this "storage" facility for the less fortunate? Bad idea. If Ed thinks it's a good idea, let him build it in Edwardsville.

I just can’t see how this will have a long-term benefit to our community.

This is a disgrace to out town. Our so called mayor is ruining this city and I will do what i have to do to remove him and this project from our city. We win a big contest bringing money to our small businesses and instead of helping us he is hurting us for his own personal gain.

Was totally blindsided by this as well... we are raising sewer fees, property taxes etc but have the money (250,000 per unit for 40 units ultimately) to build townhomes... something isn’t adding up. Nevertheless this will still go through
