Why not take the model that the charter schools want, and extend that to ALL public schools? If charter schools are so much better, why is that? Could it be because they can select and deselect their student body, and they aren't subject to statewide standardized tests?

We need public schools and locally elected school boards. Enough with the corporate take over. We all see it and we don't want it. Do we live in a Democracy or an oligarchy?

As a person with long roots in the York community, I am particularly appalled by this power grab to turn our public schools over to privateers.

A for profit charter school is not the answer. Poverty, absentesm, lack of pre-school education are some of the problems that need to be dealt with.

The York School District is fighting to keep their schools from being run by a for-profit company. This is a fight for democracy. This is a fight against privatization of a basic human right - education.
