To the esteemed members of the International Olympic Committee (IOC):
We, the undersigned listeners to 101-7 Chuck-FM, also being fine upstanding citizens of Chuck-town (Charleston, SC, USA) and environs do hereby petition the IOC to designate Chuck-town the official host city for the 2018 Winter Olympic Games.
Lack of snow has not prevented the Winter Games from going forward in Vancouver. We here in Chuck-town will find ways to truck in sufficient snow and ice to allow the world’s best athletes to compete in all of the key events. These include Skiing, Ice Skating and even that Luge thingy (whatever the heck that is).
With warmer weather, Chuck-town is sure to attract more participants, spectators and sponsors. (How many sun tanning lotions are sponsoring the Vancouver games?) This will ensure great revenues and TV ratings which are, after all, the true goals of these games.
We here in Chuck-town pride ourselves on being friendly people and supportive of all of our community endeavors, even if we think Hockey is barely a sport.
So, come to Chuck-town in 2018 – we’ll buy the Oysters, and you buy the Beer!

The bureaucrats at the International Olympic Committee are still ignoring our emails while they hide behind their dusty rulebooks. They think a lack of snow is an excuse to keep the games away from Charleston but we know they are just afraid of our spirit. Keep the pressure on these suits until they acknowledge we deserve this.

The IOC suits are finally starting to notice the undeniable logic of bringing the games to a city that actually knows how to throw a party. We have real momentum now and it proves that Charleston is ready to school the world on what a real winter sports destination actually looks like.
