I am Christine Melendez and I am seeking nomination for District L President.

As District L President I hope to:

• Recruit and Retain active membership to prepare Chesterfield, Colonial Heights, and Hopewell for Collective Bargaining. As a CEA BOARD MEMBER and BUILDING REPRESENTATIVE, I have helped to recruit and retain education workers for the last two years and look forward to growing in membership.
• Empower and Equip members and non members with tools and opportunities necessary for professional and personal success in their workplaces and communities. As an active member of VEA and other statewide groups of educators, I understand the need for inclusion of all education workers in all processes at the local, state, and national level to ensure equitable outcomes.
• Organize and Unionize members and nonmembers around issues that have plagued our schools and communities for far too long. As the CEA ORGANIZING COMMITTEE CHAIR, I took part in organizing the campaign to fully fund Chesterfield County Public Schools. I continue organizing efforts to make budget recommendations and school board policy language changes directly to our central office staff and school board members. I look to share these strategies with all locals in District L.
