Christin DewBerry for SBA Executive President
Be the change you want to see, See the change with Christin D.
I hope to be the force of change by cultivating a community where students can create true bonds and friendships, as I have over the past two years. SBA events should bring students together, encourage community engagement, and promote the sustainability of student welfare. I am asking for your consideration for SBA Executive President for the 2023-2024 academic school year to lead the change.
This past year I have worked alongside the current president and met with school administrators to see the direction the school is looking to move in. I have a well-rounded understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the SBA president, and I am excited to begin our transition out of COVID-Times as your SBA president.
As the executive treasurer, I was responsible for paying the vendors and venues for all our events, collecting student payments for events, and working as the liaison between Dean Godfryd, our student organization, and the class boards. I am thankful for this role and the knowledge I have gained as your treasurer, and I hope to implement the skills that I have obtained from this position into the role of president.
My goal for the 2023-2024 academic school year is to create a greater sense of community among students, faculty, and staff. To accomplish this goal, I plan to get our organizations more funding and exposure, host more events at the school, and prioritize student needs. Over the past three years, students have longed for activities, interpersonal interaction, and networking opportunities. I believe this upcoming school year is a great time to put plans into action and have these activities and opportunities a part of our “new normal.”
It is no secret that our organizations had a less-than-favorable budget this past year. I plan to create events that allow organizations to fundraise and interact with students in a positive way. We must change how we host events to get our organizations more money. While I will keep the traditionally held events, I plan to be creative with new events. In being creative, I want to bring more decisions to the student body. I want to know how our students are enjoying the events planned. Monitoring student satisfaction will allow the SBA executive board and the BOG to prioritize student needs effectively. The relationships and habits we start now will follow us into practice. I want to solidify those relationships and habits by introducing students to resources to further “educate the complete lawyer.”
If elected SBA President, I want to help each student feel comfortable here at school and make sure that students feel comfortable going to professors and faculty for help because we are a community.
I look forward to further discussing my platform at the candidate fair, and I hope on April 3rd, 2023, you will vote for me, Christin DewBerry, for your SBA Executive President.
