Final supporters
I would like to take a moment to tell you about one of my best friends, Christian Banks. He's friendly, kind, and extremely loyal. He would do anything in his power to help a friend. His smile and laugh are contagious, and he's always a pleasure to be around. He's helped me through some major personal crises, and I'm not sure where I would be without his friendship and support.
However, as so many young people do in this country, Christian suffers from a drug addiction that has prevented him from reaching his immense potential as an individual. He is currently facing a lengthy prison sentence for charges that I believe are a result of his addiction. Although no one was hurt in the alleged incident, the charges against Christian are serious in nature. These alleged actions are not an accurate representation of the Christian Banks that I know and love, and I fervently believe in his ability to have a positive impact on the world if he is able to overcome his addiction.
In my personal experience, I have seen many people undergo extreme and positive transformations as a direct result of the rehabilitation offered by drug court. On behalf of myself as well as everyone else who has been positively impacted by Christian, I am petitioning the attorneys and judges of Livingston County to consider drug court as a worthwhile option in Christian's case.
Although he has let a lot of people down over the years, he has also overcome a traumatic young life and managed to positively impact countless others. I pray that the potential I see in him will have a chance to be fully realized someday soon. Thank you for your consideration in this matter.

My daughters father struggles from drug addiction and has gotten into a lot of trouble by law. I believe that addiction is a disease and everyone deserves a chance no matter how many chances!!!! The law needs to look at it as a disease that needs treatment, not jail!!!!
Christian's sister is a dear friend to me and I met Christian long ago when I befriended his sister. He was always a sweet young man and carried his self politely, never disrespect toward others. Please see that this young man is lost and needs more help then just a prison sentencing.
TASC worked for me. He's 20, and needs the chance to work on his spiritual malady instead of being stuck in a cage with nothing but time to stew in his resentments and grief. Please help this man instead of forgetting about him.
I don't know this young man but I have see many peoples success stories through drug court. I'm living proof of how many chances and the court system not giving up on me can change someone's life. Today I'm 18 months sober and I know the hardships of addiction. I hope this man can get the 2nd chance that I did and have another shot at life.
This man is a a great person with an even greater heart always there for people when they need him most. I honestly think some type of drug help would help a lot more then a long term prison sentence. As a law abiding citizen I think he has potential to do a lot for our community! Thank you for your time.

I've seen some one very close to my heart struggle with addiction, and be in and out of the Illinois Department of Corrections, always succumbing to their demons and winding there once again. Drug addiction is an illness that needs treatment, prior to punishment.
