District Chitral located on the extreme north of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province of Pakistan with a population of .4 million has been strategically very important. It has abundance of water resources and beautiful scenic places, valleys and tourist spots.
The Chitral river known in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province as 'Kabul River' originating in a place locally named “chiantar" seeps out the whole Chitral ends at Arandu entering into Afghanistan. While coming through Chitral different streams and tributaries make it a huge river.

Though the river provides nothing for Chitral except destruction when it reaches its high water marks in summer season, this increase benefits to the lower riparian only. This river named 'Kabul River' does make a sense of deprivation among the people of Chitral, alienation of Provincial and Federal government of Pakistan ceding its own resource to Afghanistan by its name, rather to own it with a district which owns it.
As Chitral River enters into Afghanistan some water from Kabul (Afghanistan's Capital) also becomes part of this river which also takes its name!
We the people of Chitral demand no reparation for the damages and loses (property and lives) caused by this river for past many years, but the only demand we have is that this river must be named after Chitral where it originates, and feeds by its tributaries becomes a river.

We demand that Kabul River must be named as Chitral River
