If part of the reason to donate this land to VOLF was to save taxes, won't those taxes now be due if the land is sold, producing income?
And how do we compensate the wildlife whose ecosystem is now to be trashed?
And what about explaining to all the taxpayers — not just the Eleven — and to our grandchildren this
travesty of wasteful ugly instruction?

As a longtime Chilmark resident/taxpayer, I am just sick — not only to see this proposal, but to contemplate the way it has been pushed. This bridge benefits no one. It destroys a treasured area.

Come on - this beach is for everyone, not just the 11 homeowners, your JOB, first and foremost is to preserve this beautiful natural area. Any bridge should be as harmonious with the environment and leaving the view and beach undisturbed - you know this! The monstrosity bridge is not the answer - back to the drawing board - please don't ruin one of the island's most beautiful beaches.

Convenience vs. conservation? The fact that they both begin with the same three letters is the only thing they have in common. I go for conservation, saving the beach which cannot be replaced, and using a low impact approach (which I hear is also less expensive!)

While sympathetic to the homeowners ' concern for access to their properties, the current plan is rather insensitive And destructive to the current environment and local esthetic, particularly in light of the existence of more sensitive, less jarring – and less expensive- access design proposals. I would hope the Selectmen appreciate the community opposition and will reconsider the current plan

Squibnocket Beach and the surrounding areas are very special to my family. We have been renters in Chilmark for many summers. The area is unique in it's pristine beauty - please do not build this bridge! It is not worth it to mar the gorgeous landscape for the "convenience" of a few families.
