Kids and weed no more go together than kids and whiskey. However, marijuana legalization presents a challenge to producers of infused edibles. Many edibles look and taste just like yummy things kids (and adults) like to eat: brownies, lollipops, sodas, candy, etc.

The state of Colorado is currently mulling labeling standards for these items that give information about potency, and have a graphic affixed to the wrapper that denotes an herb-infused product.Given that this graphicwill be at this size or smaller on thepackaging, we feelthe proposed image is ineffectual for children, especially tots too young toread well. Instead, we propose the image featured with this petition.

A bold, bright warning, in line with other "danger" colors that young children can easily "read" as meaning not for them. Parents would have far less trouble teaching their kids to recognize our graphic than the one above.
