Selsdon Primary are you seriously going against guidelines? putting even more stress on children and parents, unnecessary stress. I urge you to reconsider your decision.

What is the medical evidence that primary school children need to wear masks? I saw an online discussion by the BMJ which concluded that transmission in primary schools is less common and mostly related to staff rather than children. Getting primary school children to wear masks is madness.

Utterly disgusted that Selsdon yet again feel the need to go against guidelines. The school is going downhill rapidly. I have openly stated to many parents of younger children to steer well clear of the school. Poor leadership / high churn of good teachers.

I would understand if masks were optional for those parents who are worried about children picking up the virus and bringing it home. But to make it mandatory makes a mockery of the government guidelines. Did the leadership seek the views of parents or governors before they decided to impose this policy? I do feel for the teachers but surely the children come first. It’s bad enough they have been on mute for the last 6 weeks. Masks all day will be very difficult for them.

I feel that wearing a mask for a young child is very damaging, not only physically but also mentally!
And it is not even on the government guidelines for children to wear masks . Absolutely outrageous!

This shouldn’t be pushed as this will first be hard to manage with children and stressful for them and doesn’t follow the government guide lines .

I went to this school as part of the Leavers of 2016. I want to see the best of everyone and so this needs to not go through

What bullies the leadership team are. They make up their own unlawful rules and punish the parents and children. They can’t get away with this.

I struggle to understand the school stance when it’s going against government guidelines.

It is against all legislations set out by the government! It is unlawful to put this upon a child in my opinion. It states that members of staff or visitors should wear masks but nowhere does it state that children under the age of 11 should wear a mask
