Dear Senator Edward R. Houck,

We are signing this petition to respectfully request having two dirt/gravel roads paved in Lignum, Virginia located in Culpeper County.  These two roads are Route 681 (Jacobs Ford Road) and Route 751 (Dragoon Road).  The issue of having these two roads paved has been on the table with VDOT for over 16 years.  We have attended multiple meetings and once offered $100,000 to VDOT to help fund the paving of the roads.

VDOT has acknowledged that these roads are the heaviest traveled dirt roads in Culpeper County.  There are 26 homes, 180 employees, 7 public school transportation vehicles, services provided to 42 counties (23) VA, (19) WV, (1)DC, (1) State Department and over 100 volunteers that travel the two roads on a daily basis.

The two roads are a safety issue to the users.  The gravel creates flat tires.  The rippled washboard roads create excessive wear and repair for brakes, tires, windshield wiper blades and suspension.  The daily dust requires constant cleaning of rear tail light, brake and turn signal lenses to be visible to other drivers on the main road and preventing rear end accidents.

We are confident you will help provide a solution to expedite the paving the these two roads.

Respectfully,
