Cutting down 50,000 precious trees is a senseless idea, especially when alternatives are availaable, as clarified in the petition. Look at the destruction all around you in India, and the cities of Karnataka. Coorg is one of the last and most beautiful bastions of nature and forest wealth in our state. To destroy this will lead to repurcussions and loss for generations. Timber merchants and politicians do not own these resources. Was there any debate debate before this decision was taken, like in other countries where citizens have a say in important matters such as these??? Obviously not. It's an absurd plan, that only the greedy could have come up with. Protect the forests and save these trees! It is a matter of the environment, ecology, in fact the existence itself of our sensitive bio-diversity. Urge as many people as you can to sign this petition and stop further damage in our beautiful district.

SIRS, I AM A NATIVE OF THIS MOST BEAUTIFUL BUT ECOLOGICALLY VERY SENSITIVE COORG- KODAGU DISTRICT. I AM MOST DISTRESSED TO HEAR ABOUT THE ARROGANCE AND SHEER MUSCLE POWER WITH WHICH THE KARNATAKA GOVT. HAS TAKEN A MOST DESTRUCTIVE DECISION TO HERATLESSLY CUT AROUND 50.000 AGE OLD TREES IN ORDER TO HELP SOME VESTED INTERESTED PEOPLE WHO WANT TO DESTROY THE MOST SENSITIVE ECO-SYSTEM IN MY SMALL DIST., WHICH IS ALSO AN IMP. PART OF THE MOST PROTECTED WESTERN GHAT AREAS... WHICH IS ALSO THE SOURCE OF THE HOLY RIVER CAUVERY WHICH HELPS THE BASIC SURVIVAL OF MILLIONS OF PEOPLE IN MY KARANATAKA STATE, AND THE ADJOINING TAMIL NADU STATE. HENCE, I ALONG WITH LAKHS OF OTHER CITIZENS OF THESE TWO STATES REQUEST YOU ALL EARNESTLY TO STOP THE CUTTING AND DECIMATION OF THESE EVERGREEN, MOST ECO-SENSITIVE FORESTS OF COORG.KODAGU DIST. TAHNK YOU IMMENSELY. GOD SAVE KODAGU DIST. FROM THESE LOOTERS.....

Why are you selling our Greenery, timber & forest area to kerala? Is this not your duty to protect the land of cauvery which you have utilised to drink, bathe, cook & wash using the water of the river cauvery. Have you not been to the safari's enjoyed the wildlife? By accepting this illogical decision to pave way for the High-tension line in this route instead other options you are displacing farmers, wildlife & changing the destiny of Karnataka leading to an ecological disaster???!!! Shame on you for being such irresponsible towards the wellbeing of the state.
