In recognition of the passion of all DC United fans, we the undersigned request that the supporters stand in the new DC United stadium should be named after a man who was a brother to all and left us too soon - Javier "Chico" Solares.
He embodied the spirit of DC United, and welcomed all fans to the DC United family with open arms. We cannot think of a better person to name the supporters stand after, and we strongly encourage the team to make this happen.

Chico was a legendary fan. Whether its a seat, a row, a plauqe or a stand, Chico oozed love for DCU. His greeting for people wasn't "Hello" or "Did I meet you before" It was "Vamos United?" Where others would reply "Vamos United!"
Chico was undoubtedly the best known and most loved DC United fan out there. Everyone who ever set foot in Lot 8 probably were either greeted by or shared libations with him. He was just one of those people that everyone loved and DCU couldn't have asked for a better ambassador.
Chico represents many DC united fans passion for the club. Solares Stand is a fantastic gesture to the fans to kept DC united alive in the rough years
Chico was the first person I met when I attended my first DC United game alone. He was the most genuine and authentic person and fan I have ever met. I think he sought out the new faces that showed up to Barra Brava tailgates and made a point to make them feel as welcome as he could. It's not surprising, though still very sad, that Chico's heart, which was opened to everyone and committed to DC United, was too small to hold all of his love and ended up failing him.
Chico deserves this honor. He started supporting DC United a year before the team started play. He loved one and all. Most of all he loved DC United!!
This should be named for Javier (Chico) because of his wonderful character, his beautiful smile, his humbleness and ability to caputure anyone into his heart. We should ask that his be done.

Season ticket holder until I moved to CT. Still watch the games, still make a yearly pilgrimage. Chico embodied the sense of fraternity that keeps us United.
