Dear Lewisberry Borough Residents,

On July 2nd the Lewisberry Borough will vote on on adopting an ordinance to ban the keeping of chickens and all fowl within the boro. I am asking for your support as a community to request instead of a ban that they put regulations in place and allow small all hen backyard flocks.

I have 6 little chickens at my home. They are kept contained to my property. They provide no noise issue because there is not a rooster to crow. There is no health hazard to chickens. Odor will never be an issue as long as they are properly cleaned and cared for.

We love these little ladies as any other pet, and researched the ordinances before we bought them and started building our coop. At that time no such ban was in place. Now the council will vote on this new ban and also added a clause to allow no grandfathering of already existing chickens, which means if passed we would have to get rid of our hens!

Please help us keep our pets and stand up for all of our rights of our own properties! Thank you for your time.
