Even urban areas and town like Carolina Beach allow backyard chickens with limitation. Come on Burgaw you are in the middle of a rural area update this outdated rule.

There is no good reason to prohibit backyard birds.

People should be able to keep a few chickens for eggs, the over reach of town govt is rediculous in this instance.

Backyard chickens used to be a suggestion of the govt for each family to raise and help sustain. Granted, we've come a long way since WWII but self-sufficiency and sustenance is still thriving and should be allowed for everyone.

I thought Burgaw was a bird sanctuary?

Why would Burgaw, a town with multiple feed/tack/hardware stores to cater to their citizens, in a rural area where farming is not only big business, but a huge part of the community, not allow someone to keep a few hens for eggs? Self sufficiency is so important - we've seen how hard it can be when storms come through, when supply chains are interrupted...families need to feel food secure. Please allow backyard hens.

I raise chickens . It is to help feed my family. Also chickens are quieter than dogs.

It’s ridiculous that people can’t have chickens in the their own back yard. It’s no different from having any other pet in the back yard.
