A northern bypass will irreversibly destroy a sensitive area of outstanding natural beauty by increasing traffic noise and pollution to the detriment of Chichester and The South Downs National Park.

the Ramblers are strongly opposed to
the suggested new bypass to the north of the city.
it will cut into the South downs national park & will involve the destruction of many homes.. The best solution is for the existing by pass to be upgraded.

The northern proposal would do nothing to ease congestion of traffic which comes mainly from the south and would be very costly.

Work with what is already there and improve it. Despoiling new areas should be avoided. The impacts on villages , countryside and protected sites from noise pollution alone will be significant. The area is currently relatively unspoilt, please leave it that way.

Preserve the countryside north of Chichester. Build a better road to the south!

Expanding the existing road to the south of Chichester is by far the most sensible option. The environmental cost through the northern countryside would be a disaster

The existing A27 should be improved and not create a new big road to spoil the area to the north

Utterly disgraceful to the surrounding area and the people of Chichester. How can this idea even be thought of.

Whilst accepting the need for a new road network to improve access to the ports of Portsmouth and Southampton on the M27, this should not be at the expense of the city of Chichester. The northern route is NOT cost effective and would destroy an area of outstanding natural beauty.
