Final supporters
We the undersigned ask that the County Council’s Children and Young People’s Committee make a clear commitment, with a date, to fund the expansion of Chesterton Community College, and the building investment which supports that expansion.
Chesterton Community College is a popular local school, and one which is already over-subscribed.
The population statistics demonstrate the need for a significant increase in secondary school places in north west Cambridge, and Chesterton School has been working with the County Council to plan to meet this need.
Parents and residents in the Chesterton area are concerned that unless a clear date is set for the expansion of Chesterton, the school will not be able to take all the children from the local area who would like to attend.
Chesterton is the only secondary school in Cambridge which has not received significant capital investment in recent years, and it is time the County Council showed support for this very successful local school.

The lack of response from the Council continues to be the main obstacle. I am currently reaching out to committee members directly to press for a timeline.

The school desperately needs investment in its infrastructure to match the quality of the teaching and care provided to the pupils.
My children both attended Chesterton. It is an excellent school and needs a better built environment. This is long overdue.
Chesterton Community College is an outstanding school serving an increasing population. If local children are to continue to benefit from a high class state education, they need a school that has buildings fit for purpose
Over crowding does not make for a good learning environment, we want our children to grow so surly the school needs too.
Chesterton is an excellent community school. It is vital that it expands in order that it can best serve this community. If it does not expand then students in north Cambridge will miss out on the chance to attend a school that is in the top 5% nationally.

All 3 of my children attended Chesterton. It is a very good institution and I think it should be supported.
