Epsom & Ewell Council Leisure Committee have received £50,000 from the Playbuilders Programme to develop a Teenage Play Area within the Chessington Road Recreation Ground. The people that this programme will have the biggest impact on, the local residents, were not consulted about the proposal. The council say this is a 'permitted development' and does not require planning permission. The children's park at the Chessington road recreation ground is already an attraction for teenagers especially after hours, drinking, taking drugs, anti-social behaviour and destruction of nearby property. The new proposal is going to increase that problem tenfold. The police will not be able to cope, lets stand together and oppose this development.
