I petition the Schools in South East Arkansas to hold chess tournaments and have a chess tournament season. Schools should take advantage of the opportunities to help brilliant minds perform and excel. I think that some of the most brilliant minds are in the South East Arkansas. College prospects and politicians can cultivate before they are destroyed. I spent 10 years in prison, but before I went, I was a gifted and talented student in junior and high school. I just recently graduated college with a Bachelor's Degree, but probably won't be able to get a job because I'm a felon, and this is what happens! I felt that I was in need of attention, but those in the position to help, didn't pay attention.
It's true that I am guilty of my own crime and a crime that I won't let happen again, and if I had a chance to say something then I would have. I think chess will help heal and deal with the issues of the intelligent. Chess is the ultimate competiton to an intelligent child. And it is here that I petition school sponsorship or an endorsing sponsorship for schools in the South East Arkansas region and in the neighborhoods. I petition that the school districts make chess accessible. I petition that chess be a part of the curriculum of the districts in the South East. Make the urban children feel comfortable. Give them an opportunity to be proud and have self esteem and even more, a solid foundation. I'm willing to scout talent, give my time to help give back to the children. "What happened to all the chess players?" I have community experience and I realize that I can't do this myself. Let's champion our community!
