Chem 1024b Dissatisfaction
To whom it may concern, We are writing to bring to your attention student concern with the first year course Chemistry 1024b, and its professor Oleg Semenikhin. We feel that the present course, method of instruction and evaluation was by far unfair and unsatisfactory. The role of a university professor is to relate the required information in a coherent fashion and then evaluate the students on their level of the information that was discussed. This letter is to bring to the attention of the Engineering faculty that the students in this course feel cheated out of being properly evaluated in accordance to the level of instruction that was received. It is a shared feeling by the students taking this course, that the lecture attendance and completion of the assigned homework questions were not adequate preparation for the difficulty level of the bi-weekly tests, midterm and in particular the final examination. Pertinent to the final exam, the following issues should be addressed. All the practice examinations from previous years and even the midterm examination included a periodic table as well as a short list of relevant equations and constants. The final examination presented to this class included no such list. The students feel this is another unsuitable irregularity that largely influenced the studentâ
