I am opposed to the Special Assessments District #1b and #2b as requested by the Board of Public Works of the County of Washtenaw for expansion of the Material Processing Facility. The estimated total cost to construct the facility and purchase new equipment is $3,200,000 of which $500,000 will be paid with reserve funds. The current estimated cost to operate the system is approximately $850,000 with $280,000 being provided by special assessments. Once the new facility is operational,the estimated cost to operate the system will be approximately $675,000 with approximately $90,000 being provided by special assessments. The sale of the recyclable material does not cover the cost of providing the services.
