The scaffolding in the Chelsea area has increased the homeless population considerably and Chelsea is no longer the quaint area it was just a year ago. It feels unsafe due to the dark space created by scaffolding and the mental instability of many homeless.

I recently commented that I will not walk on the north side of 14th St. between 6th - 7th Ave. The scaffolding is making things worse.

I am afraid to walk my dog on the corner of my block (23rd and 8th Ave) given the constant presence of aggressive and possibly drunk or high homeless men. I also feel horribly for the dogs that live with the homeless people on the south side of 23rd Street in front of the Chelsea Hotel (between 7th and 8th avenues) as well as further East between 7th and 6th avenues.
