Why is it cheaper to travel to Galway or Sligo than to Drogheda from Dublin. Absolutely scandalous. I live directly beside the train station but cannot use it because of the high cost of travel.

Have been travelling in train from
Laytown for 16 years and fairs have only increased with no improvement to trains and new timetable does not service me at all as trains no longer going from pearse adds another 30mins onto an already long journey

I live in balbriggan and If I was to go to drogheda for example I would be going through county Dublin, Meath and Louth so the fare is higher even though the journey is short.

This needs to happen. It's desperately important for our young, ambitious students looking to make a career and future for themselves and for the hard working who are travelling to a from the countries capital on a day to day basis to provide for their families. These prices are absurd by European standards and anyone who has travelled anywhere on mainland Europe will come back to recognise the atrocity that is the Irish public transport system. Big changes need to happen. This isn't a very large island and it should most definitely be accessible by train, and for a price that reflects the income of our population.

Reduced fares will reduce commuter carbon, reduce gridlock, reduce healthcare spending, increase economic growth and wellbeing. Wood and trees come to mind.

For a few kilometers in the difference prices should not be so different . Prices are too high from laytown
