Events at CSL mirror events at other for-profit schools over the past 10. Gallo LLP has more experience and success suing for-profit schools for fraud than any other law firm in the country. We've represented more than 1,900 individual students and thousands of class members over the past 9 years. We've recovered more than $60 million. We resolved the Thomas Jefferson School of Law cases last summer. We've been been contacted about the CSL situation. We'd like to talk to more students. If you're considering hiring an attorney, please email [email protected]. More information about the firm is available at https://gallo.law .
This is not an offer of representation. But we are investigating, are keenly interested in speaking with students, and anticipate that we may, in conjunction with appropriate local NC counsel, offer to represent large numbers of CSL students after an appropriate screening process (individual case strength typically varies widely based on a number of factors including what you would have been if you had not been admitted to CSL). No promises, but we hope we may be able to help. Ray E. Gallo

It's not fair to all the students who deserve to finish their education - the students are not at fault! Yet the students are being punished !

This is a failure on the part of the ABA and North Carolina Bar Association to protect the law students from outright fraudulent action on the part of Infilaw and CSL. They have jeopardized the future of every student that has chosen to place their career path in the hands of Infilaw. The actions listed here are the bare minimum that need to be implemented. Infilaw and their investors will likely be subject to costly and legitimate lawsuits on behalf of students and alumni for reparations - both present and future.

Being a for-profit institution comes with the risk of loss. The school should swallow the cost of tuition for the students expected to graduate in May.

As a 1L student who thought my dreams of attending law school were finally coming to pass it's extremely hurtful and makes me angry to know that the institution I separated my family for so that I could start on time has basically been defrauding me and others since the beginning. The students should not be penalized by the decisions of others that are not within our controls and regardless of the DOES decision I feel strongly we all should be able to at minimum attend CSL for the spring semester free of charge and those who are close to graduating should be afforded the same as most universities will only accept 30 credit hours to transfer and require students to have attended at least 2 semesters of law school prior to transferring. This is ridiculous that the students are left with so many unknowns especially right at the holidays when we should be able to enjoy our families and not worry about how we are going to pay for school this spring.

The school thought as long as it kept the truth from the students they could gain more tution money and those enrolled would fill there coffers until the Govt. shut them down. The students need to fight back as hard as so many have worked. Please don't take this sitting down you deserve a lot better.

The school needs to take care of the students graduating in May of 2017. Especially since only 30 credits can be transferred. This would be financially devastating since most would lose 40-46 credits and be forced to go another 2 years. Charlotte needs this school to remain. The administration needs to reorganize and take the steps necessary to start anew.

So many of us quit jobs, moved away from our loved ones, and signed lenghty leases in an unknown city. These decisions were solely based on our acceptance into an institution that we thought was respected and honorable within the legal community. However, as we all have learned in the last month the administration has been lying to everyone and when it is all said and done the students are the only ones who will suffer.

This is absolutely appalling. The administration, infilaw and this who were in a decision making capacity should be ashamed. The misrepresentations, falsehoods and lies have adversely affected many people lives and they should face some sort of punitive actions.

At an absolute MINIMUM, I urge that the following requests are met and upheld.
First, allow/make it possible for all students graduating in May 2017 to complete their 90 hours and graduate as scheduled (whether the credits are completed at CSL or another law school). This means no 30/60 credit transfer limit. As a student with 12 credits remaining, this is my first request.
Second, the same request will be granted to all students who are not graduating in May 2017. That is, allow students to transfer (if they must, because of CSL closure) without any credit transfer requirement or limit. I understand this decision comes down to the transferee law schools, but CSL shall urge other schools to make an exception due to this extraordinary circumstance.
Third, the people at the top (you know who you are) shall flip the script and put everyone else's interest, instead of your own, in first priority. A new fiduciary duty if you will. Everyone else includes, but is not limited to, all students (current, past, and prospective), all of the school's law professors, and all of the school's faculty. Expressly excluded from this list are the "you know who you are" ones. Because this request is vague and unspecific, the duty attached to it shall carry a wide breadth.
Fourth, all necessary refunds will be made to students. This includes, but is not limited to, bar application fees (paid or to be paid for the July 2017 bar) and official transcript requests (paid or soon to be paid).
That is all for now. Happy holidays.

Being a single mother of a 2-year old, I have no clue how we are going to survive without receiving the federal funding that I was awarded and that included a stipend. I am truly devastated by this news and hoping the CSL makes this "right" for all current students who put our faith and trust in you all!
