Graduating at North Point is joke it is practically forcing families to watch their kids graduate on a screen. bleacher seating is not meant for parents and grandpargrandparents. The fact that people in the gym are not allowed to get up during the ceremony makes it hard on everyone. Many families will have to either split up into the different rooms or be forced to sit in uncomfortable, painful seating for over an hour. Why don't the students have a say in this, after all its OUR day right? Kim Hill is showing her NP priDe and pouring our money into 'her' school. it's a shame.

not having all my siblings and grandparents watching my graduate is not right. this is our day and it being taken away from us by having us graduate in a different high school, not to mention our rivalry highschool. I will not walk at graduation if it is held at north point high school.

Forcing us to graduate at North Point will ruin the graduation experience for the class of 2015.

Why is it ever ok to graduate in a high school that's not your own? My grandparents and siblings aren't even able to see me in person. The Equestrian Center is perfect.

First year at this school, not impressed at all. How is it that La Plata the best school in the county but they will not listen to their students cries? We can fundraise if it is such an expensive route to take another graduating alternative area. I want ALL of my family to be able to see me graduate!!

My daughter (my oldest of 5) is a member of the La Plata High School Class of 2016. She is an incredible young lady with a 4.3 cumulative GPA. After discussing this with her, I feel that this is an incredible opportunity for her and her classmates to make a statement and experience the democratic process. As citizens we are granted the right to protest against the government and air our grievances. These petitions are easy because they don't require action. Merely signing our name is inconsequential. And even more so if we sign our name and then participate in the very thing we are petitioning. I have suggested that she and her classmates should protest as a unified group. Nothing disrespectful, but do something that has to noticed by school administrators and then explain their concerns and the measures they are willing to take if they are not addressed. LPHS is right across the street from the board of ed. They could organize a student walkout and march over their and fill the lobby and the parking lot and make their demands and the consequences of they are not met. If the students were really enterprising they could organize with the class of 2015, and I am sure that other parents like myself would support them, and be physically present during the event. If the bulk of the graduating classes were committed to not walking the stage at NPHS this issue would be addressed. So the call to action will either be answered and these kids can be a part of something, or we will let the bell ring hollow and let our children's first steps into adulthood be following the line set by govt bureaucracy. I for one would be more proud of seeing my daughter take a stand for something she believes in, and not walking the stage at NPHS, than I would seeing her be one of the sheep and just going along with an inconsiderate policy and program.
