Superintendent Hill should be ashamed of herself.
The money for ALL schools except for St. Charles High School was funded completely by the commissioners.
The money the BOE requested in the budget for our children's education was FUNDED. Actually, it was a percentage INCREASE from the previous approved budget.
The only thing that wasn't funded was the pay increases for the teachers and police (which they deserve and have received pay increases for EVERY past approved budget). This couldn't be approved because county staff believe it isn't possible to grant pay raises without raising our taxes.
Check the articles! Check the ACTUAL budget! Don't just base our county's future on a misinformed robocall that used my PRIVATE information and 16,000 other county residents and made us believe our children's education is at stake.

The County Commissioners should be ashamed of themselves. Their paychecks should be cut by 80%. I bet they wouldn't like that.

Thursday i learned that several support staff at Stethem Educational Center were fired, and many others had their pay cut from $22.50 per hr to $11.85 per hr due to this inadequate budget. Home and Hospital tutors have not had a pay raise in seven years!

I am a teacher and a comminty member in La PLata. The schools are underfunded as it is. The money was promissed and did not come! That's wrong.

What a shameful decision. I am extremely worried about next year. The children are the ones that will be hurt the most. This is so sad.

Please help fund for our children. I have 2 children that are in special programs within the school system and without them I wouldn't be able to get the proper education for my kids. Thank you!
