To Whom It May Concern: We, the undersigned, regularly park our plug-in electric vehicles (PEV) at the city-owned Golden Gate Garage located at 250 Clay Street in San Francisco. We wish to petition the City of San Francisco to add more electric vehicle charging stations and corresponding spaces to this garage. As the popularity of electric vehicles has increased, the number of charging stations, outlets, and parking spaces at Golden Gate Garage has not kept pace. San Francisco has committed itself to supporting clean energy and clean air quality; and we have committed ourselves to the same cause by converting to electric and/or hybrid vehicles. So please continue to show your support for us by expanding the electric charging facilities at Golden Gate Garage. At present, there are only two ChargePoint stations at this garage. Each station has one high-power (220v) and one low-power (120v) outlet. Most PEV owners prefer to use the high-power outlet as the faster charging allows more of us to cycle through and charge our cars or motorcycles. One station is located near 4-5 parking spots, so more PEVs can access it. The other station only serves one regular parking spot and one handicapped spot, so it generally isn't accessible to multiple vehicles throughout a day. There is an outdated Magne-Charge station that no one seems to use, and it is taking up valuable capacity. Magne-Charge is only used by a few hundred first generation (1997-2003) Toyota RAV4 EV electric vehicles. As these first generation Toyota RAV4 EV electric vehicles retire from the roadways, Magne Charge will be completely obsolete since no existing or future electric vehicles can use it. Magne-Charge was obsoleted by GM in 2002, so it would be wonderful if in the near term, the Magne-Charge station could be replaced by a ChargePoint station, as all the necessary wiring is already in place. However, we would appreciate even more ChargePoint stations and reserved parking spots for PEVs to charge. With regards, San Francisco Financial District PEV Owners
