As residents of the Chappel East/West area, we believe that the City should proceed with its plans for the Chappel East Parkette.

90% of attendees at the January 23, 2014 public meeting supported development of the park. Given that there are 720 children in the Chappel East and Chappel West neighbourhoods and no park in the immediate area, we request that the city continue with its plan for this parkette which would greatly benefit the community.

im still waiting to hear back from the city planning office but dont think they can ignore us for much longer. there are just too many kids in this area without anywhere to play and people are emailing me daily with stories about why this parkette is so needed.

seeing this much momentum behind the parkette is honestly surreal. it feels like the city is finally going to have to pay attention to all the families who need this space.

Bill, I'm not sure I understand how you think that three parks could be too many? There are almost 1000 kids between Upper Wellington and Upper Sherman, south of Rymal. Why not let the city do something positive and give them a clean safe place to play? A maintained city park vs. an overgrown lot seems like a no brainer.

This park is dearly needed. Turner Park is close by, but not toddler friendly or visible to parents! Every young child needs to be encouraged to play outside more and more these days! Being in a townhouse survey, I'd rather have all the kids in a safe place, than roller blading and throwing a football or baseball on our street dodging cars. Can't wait to hear the laughter of kids in that area rather than it just being a recycling box catch basin! Hurry up and get started!!

The park at Les Chater YMCA was designed for children ages 8-12. While the slide was replaced a couple of years ago to allow younger children to use it, there is still very little a young child can do there. Two swings and a slide is not exactly something to cheer about. This current spot is a teenage smoking/drinking hangout waiting to happen. An absolute waste of space, and from what I hear the drainage has already begun seeping into the townhouses that border the greenspace. Why fight to keep that?

I feel a park is needed in this community.

Hamilton presents itself as the best city to raise a child. Parks go a long way to meet that.

Hi Bill, thanks for visiting. The picture is from the concept images of what the park could look like. Unfortunately there are no parks that are within easy walking distance for the many little ones in our neighbourhood. The nearest park is a long walk through a large muddy field, and most of the time the gate to the park is locked.

This is not a picture of the park in question! There are already 2 parks in the area. Why another one?

The current space is an eyesore that serves no purpose. I think a parkette would be a great improvement and would give the children in the area a place to play.
