This petition has been started as a result of an anonymous letter sent to several Chaparral lacrosse parents with allegations of recruiting "out of district" players and coaching practices in the program considered detrimental to new and returning players.

The petition has been designed to collect information on the number of parents with concerns regarding potential recruiting and other issues deemed unfair or not in the best interests of current, former and future Chaparral lacrosse players. We are asking any parents with concerns about the administration of Chaparral lacrosse to sign the petition including your name and provide brief comments on your concerns. We know there are a number of parents out there with concerns about the program. Our hope is that we can, at a minimum, have our voices be heard and effect a positive change in the program that benefits all players at all levels.

It is understood that you may have concerns about potential retribution against your players by signing this petition. Our hope is that with enough concerned parents speaking up, we can not only prevent such retribution but effect a positive change the program. Although public, note that you can opt to NOT have your name showup online. If you do that, your comments WILL show up under the DISCUSSIONS tab so you may want to "genericize" them. This petition has only been advertised by word of mouth in the hopes that we can identify the concerned parents and formally approach the Chaparral school administration and/or CHSAA (High School Athletics governing body) to present our concerns as a significant number of parents united through the Chaparral lacrosse community.

Below is the anonymous letter that was received by several parents. The letter included Coach Mott and Coach Graefe's U15 (youth 8th grade) roster indicating every players home district school and the school they enrolled in. That information has not been included to protect the privacy of the players. A brief summary of that information has been included to support comments in the letter.

Anonymous letter received 03/19/14:
When a group of us parents started seeing several Chaparral helmets on an elite lacrosse team we became concerned with possible recruiting by Chaparral of 2017 lacrosse players so we decided to take a look into it. What we found was quite disturbing.
We found that there was in fact blatant recruiting by U-15 head coach Mott and his assistant coach Graefe and someone higher up in Chaparral's lacrosse program not only encouraged this behavior but then hired these two coaches.
In return for changing schools or simply being a part of this U-15 team each boy was promised their position on varsity/JV for their entire four years at Chaparral and several were promised D-1 scholarships.
Somehow, in a school known for not accepting open enrollment due to overcrowding, all six boys where able to open enroll. One as late as July 2013, the second round of applications. This has led us to believe there may be several people involved at this point.
We are attaching Coach Mott and Coach Graefe's U-15 roster along with each boys home school. Unfortunately you'll have to do your own investigating when it comes to contacting these parents. Most will only speak on condition of anonymity out of fear of retribution on their sons because these boys were also marketed, and jobs offered, to other lacrosse programs. Some may even change their stories because they consider these coaches friends.
We've also spoken to several lacrosse parents from Chaparral and how this is affecting their community as a whole. Several in area boys are unable to even participate in a sport they love. Some boys are playing on a lower level team in order to accommodate all the promises made to the boys on this team.
It may be difficult removing these two coaches from your coaching staff because they were promised their jobs for illegally recruiting these players. It will be even more difficult ferreting out the person or people responsible for this in your program however this is a perfect opportunity for you, as a community, to take back your program so that it serves the boys it was meant to serve.

Coach Mott U15 Roster Summary:
21 total players

7 "out of district" players enrolled at their "in district" school, moved or private school
"Out of district" players enrolled at Chap were from Highlands Ranch (3), Rock Canyon (1), Douglas County(1) and Legend(1) "home districts"
