The New Birmingham Road Layout was designed to make our roads safer - but it has just created Chaos!
Problems:
Parkhall/Brookhouse Estate - The estate is being used as a rat race by drivers looking to avoid the long queues on the Birmingham Road. The new layout diverts drivers from the main road onto this residential estate increasing the chances of a potential accident involving Parkhall school children and local residents. The narrow roads in the estate are not suitable or safe to cope with the extra traffic.
Queues - Drivers are now queuing as far back as the Metro Inns in the morning adding up to 30 minutes to their journeys. Queues in the opposite direction can reach as far as Junction 7 - again causing up to 30 minute delays. Parents, carers and commuters are now finding that they are often late picking up young children from school, meeting caring commitments and arriving to work on time.
The roads are no safer - Drivers are becoming agitated and performing aggressive manoeuvres to get ahead. Drivers are ignoring road markings in both directions which could lead to serious accidents. Speeding is simply being moved to other areas of walsall as drivers attempt to make up time lost in the extended queues.
Residents urge the council to re-evaluate the layout. Other options could include average speed cameras which would still allow the traffic to flow with two lanes at a safe speed.

One hundred people have signed on to say this road layout is failing us. It is exhausting to see the daily gridlock and unsafe driving continue while the council stays silent. We have a long road ahead but I am staying with this.

Absolute chaos. I have to leave work early to pick up kids on time. Never had single late in years for school and now no matter how early you leave still get to school late. Queues on Birmingham road makes me impossible to turn right from charlemont road. So annoying!!!
I would love to know how this has made the road any safer. The traffic was backed up to the harvester by St Margaret’s school-meaning the road crossings were blocked by cars and making the whole area less safe as a result. Crazy decision
I work for the NHS on call, this new road layout is having a massive affect on how quick I can respond to a patient who is seriously ill and in need of help. Not only that, the level of air pollution is already ridiculously high, this is not helping the problem at all.
It is causing significant delays on my commute home. One night it took me 20 minutes to get down Birmingham Road. Also, getting out of Walstead Road is becoming an issue. One morning I sat through 6 traffic light changes. Local residents should have been consulted.
This change has caused big delay everyday. I also agree driver get aggressive and preform dangerous manouvors. The short cuts taken on back street is very dangerous as drivers will speed to get ahead. This is ridiculous and needs to change before someone is hurt or even killed

Regularly que from the harvester down to the bell pub now every night. After an already stressful and busy commute on the M6 from Birmingham. Started driving down chapel and through Park Hall to avoid the que. That route is now getting busier - which I doubt the residents like.
