Changing the Philosophy 1 Canvas Midterms

Professor Coliva gives out midterms on the canvas website saying that "there are over 350 students." The canvas midterms are very unclear and if our answers do not match the exact format of the preloaded answers, they are marked wrong especially on the fill in the blank questions. When you try and ask about the question although the TAs agree that it should be correct, Professor Coliva becomes annoyed and raises her voice saying "there's nothing I can do" not even willing to listen to end of the questions of the students. Also her only form of advice is to study the slides provided as everything is contained in the slides; however, there are questions that do not show up or are even implied in the slides. She has extra material on the canvas site for reference such as the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy, but when referenced and the material is used on the exam, she has said that the resource, that she provided us, "is wrong" and "there's nothing I(she) can do."
This petition is for the revision of our last 2 midterms and the change in format moving forward. A possible suggestion would be a scantron exam, where the types of questions giving would remain identical, but would give answer choices making it a lot more clear and the TAs could run them through the grading machine making the class size irrelevant and making this class a more academically friendly and fair course that is a safe and open environment for learning that better follows the mission of UC Irvine.
