The Minnesota Hockey current Age Classification year is from July 1st – June 30th. We are requesting your support to change this to adopt a June 1st or May 31st Age Classification year. There are several reasons to consider this change, most notably the large numbers of players with June birthdates that delay entry into Kindergarten and thus end up playing hockey every other year with players that are ahead of them by one or two grades in school. Additionally, this greatly effects these players when they enter 9th grade and are not eligible to play at the Bantam level and may not be qualified to play High School hockey. This leaves limited options for them to continue to play hockey in Minnesota. There are approximately 4000 Minnesota Hockey players with June birthdates.  By moving this date back one month it will not prevent any player from playing up if they choose to do so - but it will allow players born in the month of June to not be forced to play up and allow them to play with other players in their same grade.  We are requesting your support to encourage MN Hockey to "Change the Age" and move the eligibly date to June 1 for all MN Hockey players. Thank you for your support!
